About Mayo Farm and Shaftesbury

Mayo Farm is a small holding situated in an elevated position on the outskirts of Shaftesbury. The small quiet campsite and accomodation enjoy uninterrupted views across to Melbury Hill. The site is suitable for families who value having space and the chance to get away from it all whilst still being within walking distance of the town centre.
Our site is child friendly with plenty of room to explore, there is a children's play area with trampoline and swings and a fort set amongst the trees to hide in and battle over. However we do ask guests to ensure the their children are supervised at all times, are kept away from all working areas and that there is no running around the campsite after 9pm.

There is an area set aside for a fire (weekends only) and wood can be purchased on the site. We are hoping that a new development for 2012 will be an outdoor pizza oven. This can be lit on Fridays and Saturdays on request.
On the farm we have two donkeys Barney and Moses fostered from the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary. Barney and Moses are always ready for a chat but we ask guests to refrain from feeding them. We also have a small flock of sheep, free range chickens, ducks and geese.
On a quiet night deer, foxes and badgers can be seen amongst the trees.

Shaftesbury is a thriving market town famous for it's Abbey and Gold Hill. It has breathtaking views which can be enjoyed from Park Walk on the one side and Castle Hill on the other.
Shaftesbury is an ideal location for exploring Hardy country and there are many outstanding National Trust and English Heritage properties within easy reach. The surrounding countryside has some wonderful walks and Dorset's Jurassic coast with its range of interesting rock formations, numerous beaches, coves and stunning coastal path are all within easy reach.
